Breastfeeding Success Company (BFS) believes that quality mentorship is the keystone to ensuring ongoing quality in our professions. BFS is proud to offer mentorship to incoming International Board Certified Lactation Consultants® (IBCLCs) and Neonatal Nutritionists (NICU RDs). Read below to learn more about each program.
Incoming IBCLCs are required to complete a minimum number (500-1,000) of clinical hours in the presence of another IBCLC¹. The BFS IBCLC Mentorship Program offers clinical hours in both inpatient and outpatient settings. BFS now accepts students seeking IBCLC certification on any of the three pathways. Neonatal Nutrition Mentorship
Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Dietitians proudly offer a specialty rotation supervised practice opportunity for dietetic students and graduates who are enrolled in an accredited internship program, preparing them for a career as a Registered Dietitian. In alignment with the objectives and standards of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) within Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, our team teaches and models clinical knowledge, skills and professional practice behaviors needed for students to successfully complete their required competencies. We share tools and resources that support and inspire evidence-based, interdisciplinary practice, and patient-centered care for babies (and their parents) in the neonatal intensive care unit.
We presently have affiliation agreements with the University of Texas System and Texas State University, allowing us to collaborate with dietetic internship coordinators from those programs for scheduling intern rotations.
